ADD/ADHD
I was a psychology/neuroscience major and minor in college and received my graduate degree in education, specializing in learning disabilities. Additionally, I have been a special education teacher/tutor for close to a decade, during which I have had extensive experience teaching and working with ADD/ADHD students. In spite of the frustration and struggle people diagnosed with ADD/ADHD experience, I am equally well versed and aware of strategies to compensate and overcome their challenges, in addition to using and highlighting the strengths and exceptional abilities of individuals with ADD/ADHD. Finally, I have also worked with The institute of Pediatric Neuroscience, as research assistant on studies focused on understanding ADD/ADHD. Thus, I am well read on the most current research on ADD/ADHD. Last but perhaps most importantly, I greatly ENJOY working with individuals with ADD/ADHD.

Aspergers
I have been working with students with Aspergers for over a decade in private, research-based and school settings. I currently have my Masters in Special Education and I am a licensed NY state special Educator. I believe I express a deep understanding for the individual experience unique to each student with Aspergers (frustrations, anxieties and of course often extraordinary abilities and successes. I have grown to adore working with these students and I have experienced great success at reaching them; both reducing struggle and facilitating success. I believe in creating an individualized program that will best meet the unique needs of each individual. When I work with a student their goals are clarified, progress is monitored and questions/suggestions are always welcome.
autism
I have worked with children with autism for over a decade. In college I was a psychology/neuroscience major and minor in college and received my graduate degree in education, specializing in students with disabilities. I have extensive experience working with children on the spectrum both with very little verbal output and hyperlexic. I understand the nuances that accompany autism and I adore working with them. In spite of the frustration and struggles people diagnosed with autism experience in navigating this complicated world, I have acquired a myriad of strategies research-based and creative to address each unique individuals needs. I have worked one to one, under an autism consultant, as well as in integrated classrooms. One of the achievements I take greatest pride in is original research I compiled that funded a study at The Institute of Pediatric Neuroscience, as research assistant. Thus, I am well read on the much of the most current research on the neurobiology. I can help navigate families through the education system, as I acted as district representative for my school, as well as IEP teacher and special ed. liaison. I have offered teacher support services to help inexperienced teachers understand and improve their own instruction addressing the needs of children with autism. I have furthered my own education and knowledge of instructional strategies by attending a training for teaching yoga to students with disabilities. This has tremendous academic advantages, particularly for those with autism.
